Dorothy Rose Hauptmann (née Gendreau) passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 88. She gifted her body to SLU School of Medicine.
Dorothy was born on August 20, 1926 in Little Falls, Minnesota to Adelard and Anna Frances Gendreau (née Maier). She married Dr. William L. Hauptmann on Valentine's Day, 1953 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, she was a hospital dietitian in St. Louis and later studied economics and became a CPA.
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, husband and brother-in-law, William Finch. She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Hoffmann, Mary Carol, Christine, Elizabeth Lemp, Therese, Odile Kerester, Ellen Flotree, and Edward; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings Elaine (George) Angel, Odile "Sunny" (Bob) Netko, Jeanne Gendreau (Bill) Carley, and Judy Finch. Dorothy has gifted her body to SLU School of Medicine.

As of July 1, 2015, Paul Reha Butros, M.D. joined the best known Interventional Radiology group in the country in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He finally has said goodbye to being a fellow and student (since 1999), and is helping the group set up an oncology practice in Interventional Radiology. After six years of medical school, two years doing research and studying for and passing the USMLE, five years Internship in Radiology, then two years at MGH/Harvard Hospital in Abdominal Interventional Radiology, and one year at Miami (Baptist) Hospital treating oncology and paralyzed patients in Vascular Interventional Radiology, he is joining Minneapolis Vascular Physicians.
With this new chapter in his life he has initiated a name adjustment as well. At birth he was named Selim Reha Butros, Jr. However, in 2015 because of the political situation Reha Jr. formally changed his name from Selim to Paul. Unfortunately he was being called Selim and felt uncomfortable with it being an "Arab" name. In Turkey they call people by the middle name, so his family knows him as Reha Jr. But in the United States he was being called Selim, so he decided to use his baptismal name of Paul.
Congratulations and much good luck to Paul and his new family as they begin life together in Minneapolis!
Dr. Paul R. Butros

WWII shell casing display stand made of maple by Ralph Mullally
When another collector (not from the area) saw the first guy's incomplete set of WWII shell casings, he stated that he had a complete set and asked Ralph Mullally to make a display stand for him. Here is another maple display stand that was made for a WWII memorabilia collector. Thank you for sharing photographs of this example of your fine craftsmanship, Ralph!

Three months ago Sharon Farrah noticed water leakage in the basement of her St. Cloud home which was originally owned by her great-grandmother Agnes Kampa's brother's granddaughter, Stanislaus Sadowski and wife Catherine (née Brenny). Sharon thought the leakage was the result of heavy spring rainstorms. Unfortunately she was mistaken and instead the outburst was due to deteriorating ancient water pipes. She is in the process of having the pipes replaced, and then her front yard will have to be resodded. What a headache!

Camino de Santiago

The weather was great for Dick and Bonnie Kampa's trek on parts of the centuries-old Spanish Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail this May. They walked from Segovia to Salamanca, Pyrenees, Avila and on to Pamplona. Typical hikes were 10 to 12 miles a day. Unfortunately one of the hikers in their group suffered a minor accident when she fell and fractured an ankle, necessitating surgery and an early departure from the tour. Luckily our sure-footed relatives escaped unscathed.
Welcome home, Dick and Bonnie; we're so happy that you successfuly completed this ancient spiritual journey!

Tanya Bartek family in front of her 4X Great-Grandfather Johann Stimmler's ancestral stone house, Manayunk, PA, Jan. 2015
The ancestral Stimmler stone house in Manayunk, PA recently has been the visual focus of a couple of our cousins, Tanya Bartek and Michael Stimmler. Tanya and her family spontaneously decided to visit Manayunk to help daughter Eden prepare for a classroom assignment on her genealogy, and while there took a number of lovely photographs of the familial residence and the nearby family church, St. John the Baptist.
Mike Stimmler toured the San Francisco Bay Area this spring and during his trip shared some of his photographs of the Stimmler stone house and St. Johns with the family. Each view shows a different aspect of the structures and is quite interesting. We are grateful to both Mike and Tanya for sharing their visual experience of our common hereditary abode, old church and neighborhood. Thank you so much!

Camino de Santiago

In December 2014 Dick Kampa attended a seminar on 15th century St. Teresa de Avila of Spain. A local Carmelite father explained her history and growth to become an influential voice of the church over the centuries. Although she was not of the Protestant Reformation she taught about the importance of prayer and the stages of prayer one ascends through to get closer to God.
The refrain you will hear in this video that Dick would like to share with us, the Chant Hidden Things, was presented as one way to relax and prepare to meet God in prayer. It's only an introduction.
Dick and Bonnie will be travelling to Spain this May to walk parts of the Camino de Santiago, a centuries old pilgrimage trail from the Pyrenees in France to Compostella Spain. A side trip to Avila and a visit to the convent founded by Teresa will be part of their spiritual exploration.
They would like to share the song with the family and friends to perhaps elicit interest in St. Teresa de Avila's spiritual life and build on your own.
