The Alaska cruise was a great experience. First, we spent a day with our old pastor and his wife who now live on the beautiful San Juan island off the coast of Washington. He now pastors the Friday Harbor Presbyterian
church, one of the oldest in the state.

Then, we returned to Seattle and had breakfast with MacKenzie and her beau, a very nice young man who reminded us a little of grandson Phil. Here's their picture.
Later that day we boarded our ship, the 2000 passenger Westerdam and sailed for Juneau Alaska. The big event there was a helicopter flight to the top of a
big glacier that sits on a mountain range.
Next morning the ship sailed into Glacier Bay where we observed another glacier.
In Sitka the most interesting sights were the totem poles made by the Tlingat Indians . . .

. . . and a sanctuary for abandoned bear cubs.

The magnificent gardens in Victoria, British Columbia are so impressive. That was our last stop on the way back to Seattle.
While cruising between ports we heard lectures by various Conservative writers from the National Review magazine which were interesting.
The accomodations on board are excellent and so was the food - not a trip for one on a diet.
