Recent research has uncovered details of the catastrophic flash flood through the tiny hamlet of Edgewick, Washington on Feb. 27, 1932 that caused the horrific deaths of Maria "Mary" Balder (née Kampa), 26-year-old daughter Margaret Blades (née Balder) and her two infant daughters, Rose Mary and Josephine. Husband/father/grandfather Gust Balder and son/brother/uncle Ervin Balder were intimately involved in the tragedy as well.
