| Notes: | At the time of the April 11, 1940 census, Deborah was 1 year old and living with her parents and maternal grandparents, Walter [age 49] and Florence Holmberg [age 43], and her |
| uncle Quentin [age 18] in their own home worth $3,000 located at 515 Berry in Wayzata, Hennepin, Minnesota. Her grandfather was working as a laborer in city government, her grandmother as a laundress, and
her uncle Quentin as a laborer doing day work. Deborah's father Harry was born in Sweden and was still a Swedish citizen; he was 29 years old and working as a chauffeur for a private family. Her mother Frances was 20 years old. With the
exception of her father, everyone else in the family was born in Minnesota.
Deborah and her three younger sisters were all adopted by their stepfather, Forrest Stimler. Deborah worked at the Medina Ballroom with her friend and neighbor, Joann Hackenmueller. She also worked at Byerly's with Julie Ruch, and volunteered on the board of Friends For Life Foodshelf in Watertown. For many years on Tuesday mornings, she especially liked to put away the food from the "banana boxes". Deborah was remembered by Harriet Peterson as "... one of the kindest ladies [she] ever knew. A great sense of humor and just all around nice lady." |
