in Minnesota, as was their father. Their mother was born in

At the time of the Apr. 6, 1940 U.S. federal census, Joyce was 14 years old and living with her parents and three siblings ranging in age from 8 to 16 years old on a rented farm on State Street in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. They all had been living in the same house as of Apr. 1, 1935. Her father George was working as a farmer on the farm 50 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. Joyce had finished 8th grade; sister Bonita had completed her second year of high school, brother George had graduated from 5th grade, and brother Richard had completed second grade. Her father had an 8th grade education and mother Anna had completed one year of high school. Joyce was married to Fred Schimel for almost 50 years. In 1990 she was living at 3417 Therese Street in Wayzata, Hennepin, Minnesota. When she was 75, she was a widow living in Deephaven, Hennepin, Minnesota in 2000. In her final years Joyce resided at the Augustana Care Center at 1007 East 14th St. in Minneapolis, Minnesota 55404. Joyce died on September 26, 2013 in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota at the age of 88. |
