Notes: At the time of the Apr. 23, 1940 U.S. federal census, Lawrence was 5  years old and living with his parents and four siblings between the ages of 10 and 1 years old on the farm they
rented for $400/month in Utica City, Green, Missouri. He was not yet attending school. His father was working as a farmer on a rented farm for 60 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. His parents and three elder siblings all had been living at a rural location in Livingston, Missouri as of Apr. 1, 1935.

In 1958 Lawrence and Helen H. were living at 807 Bilbo, Apt B in Lake Charles, Calcasieu, Louisiana. He was in the United States Air Force.

A veteran of the Vietnam conflict, Colonel Bonderer participated in a B-52 raid on the same day (May 1, 1968) in support of ground operations that his youngest brother, Thomas Edward Bonderer, was killed in Vietnam.

He was awarded the nation's Soldier's Medal for rescuing a fellow airman in a nuclear accident at Lake Charles, LA in 1968, the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.

On Saturday, Apr. 9, 1988 at 7:15 AM the Massey Fergusoon 180 farm tractor Lawrence was driving went off the eastbound shoulder of U.S. Hwy. 36 about one mile east of Mooresville. The tractor, which was hualing a large bale of hay, ran off the roadway on the south side of the road, struck an embankment, rolled over once and pinned him underneath. A passerby with a "Bobcat-type" vehicle lifted the tractor, enabling rescue teams to work. Lawrence was taken to Hedrick Medical Center by Chillicothe Ambulance and was transported by the Research Eagle helicopter to Research Medical Center in Kansas City where he died. Lawrence was 53 years old.
