Witch Fire in Southern California Cousin Michael Nobriga is an Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crewchief who was assigned to fight the recent fires in Southern California, specifically the Witch fire in the San Diego area. He has shared some fascinating photographs and commentary about the fire from his very unique viewpoint on a Firehawk -- a UH-60L Blackhawk specially fitted with 1000 gallon belly tank used only for fire fighting duties. Thank you so much, Mike, for your excellent pictures and perspective!

Darlyne Kampa Daly has shared some information and newspaper clippings about her dad, Michael J. Kampa. We've added new biographies for his sisters, Josephine Sophia Tadych (née Kampa), Florence G. Dahler (née Kampa) and Emma Elizabeth Halfman (née Kampa). Also, there is a letter dated January 28, 1965 from Alice Qvale to her granddaughter, Rae Stimler.

The 2007 Stimmler/Stimler-Kampa Family reunion was a huge success! Our thanks go out to Dick Kampa, Sharon Farrah, Scott Stimler and LoisMarie Okonek for their hard work in bringing everything together, and to Leo Stimmler for his generous donation to defray event expenses and provide photographic souvenirs for all attendees. The reunion was held at the Riverside Park Shelter in St. Cloud, Minnesota on July 21, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family members from all over the country came together to share stories, renew acquaintances and make new friends. Come check out the photographs from the event and help identify a few of the relatives if you can!
At the event Dick Kampa initiated a discussion regarding questions of legacy from our settler ancestors, and we have posted those questions on the web site for your feedback. When you have a moment, please consider them. Even if you don't have specific memories of the past to add, any thoughts you might have about our ancestors' influences on us today would be most welcome. If you'd like to call in with your response, Dick or Rae are available for transcription purposes. And if you weren't able to attend the reunion we're still interested in hearing from you on this subject. Please send your responses to Dick for summarization and posting. Whatever is submitted will not be identified except by major family branch.

Bonnie Jean Swanson (née Stimmler) and Heather Stimmler-Hall, Paris, France, October 2007 Heather Stimmler-Hall shared a photograph of her and cousin Bonnie Jean Swanson (née Stimmler) who visited her in Paris earlier this October. Bonnie is the second-eldest daughter of Anthony 'Bud' Daniel Stimmler and Ruth Bernice Stimmler (née Tidslevold). We're happy to hear that Bonnie's mom Ruth is still going strong at age 92 and currently lives in Hawaii.
Be sure to check out Heather's facinating web site, Secrets of Paris -- An Alternative Insider's Guide. You can subscribe to her secret blog, hotel, nightlife and dining reviews via RSS feeds, check out her in-depth Paris resource guide and browse past newsletters in the archives. Another recent addition to Other Family Sites is the Family of Michael Foley Anderson. Here you can learn about the Anderson and Foley lines and enjoy Michael's artistic eye in his Banbury Garden photography gallery.

While in Minnesota for the family reunion, we visited our maternal grandparents' final resting place in Willmar at the Qvale family plot in Fairview Cemetery. We noted other family members buried there and have posted their biographies on the site; the new biographies are for Grandpa Dick Qvale's first cousin, John Wayne lookalike Arthur 'Maury' Maurice Qvale, Maury's sister, Ola 'Florence' Florence Gustava Westman (née Qvale), her husband, George Wendell Westman, their maiden aunt, Amy D. Jorgenson, and her sister, Laura M. Braithwaite (née Jorgenson). Thanks to research by Sharon Farrah and Dana Stimler, new biographies have been added for John Joseph Kampa and Pierpont Stickney. In addition, we now have new biographies for Harvey Theodore Kampa, Martin Aloysius Rengel, Valentine Imholte, Patricia Catherine Vandalen (née Barthelemy), Janice Marie Koscielniak (née Barthelemy), Crescentia Maria Eilers (née Dingmann), Evelyn Isabelle Stimler (née Moad), her son Robert 'Bobby' Dean Rogers Stimler, Ado Rudolph Ehrnst, and husband and wife, Ralph John Kampa and Celestine 'Sally' Mary Kampa (née Nickols), who still maintain the old Kampa family farm. While visiting Ralph and Sally, Dick Kampa was inspired to share his thoughts about the old Kampa homestead in Duelm. Also, a new family relationship page has been added for the Frederick Imholte line whose descendants married into both the Stimmler and Kampa family lines, and as a result all Imholte-related biographies have been updated.
