Notes: At the time of the June 13, 1900 U.S. federal census, Kathryn was 8 years old and living on the family farm in Minnesela, Butte, South Dakota with her parents, five siblings and her
  maternal grandmother, Catherine Stevens, age 80. Her parents had been married 12 years. Her father W. A., age 42, was working as a farmer.

At the time of the April 13, 1910 U.S. federal census, Kathryn was 18 years old and living with her parents, six siblings, and her maternal grandmother, Catherine Stevens (age 91) on the family farm in Minnesela, Butte, South Dakota. She was working as a dressmaker in her own home. Her father William A. (age 52) was working as a farmer in general farming, and her brother Robert H. (age 20) was working as a bookeeper.

Kathryn married William John Kampa on Feb. 5, 1917 in Butte County, South Dakota. He was 29 and she was 24 years old.

At the time of the April 2, 1930 U.S. census, Kathryn was 42 years old and living with her husband William and two children in a home they rented for $35/month at 603 Maumee St., Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan. The family owned a radio. Both children were attending school. William was working as a commercial salesman for a wholesale drug business. He said he was born in Minnesota and both his parents were born in Germany. He stated that he was married when he was 25 and Kathryn was 19 years old. In 1942 William and Kathryn were living at 1341 W. Maumee St. in Adrian, Lenawee, Michigan. Her husband was 54 years old and working for Chi Hansens Laboratory at 9015 W. Maple in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [Source: U.S. WWII Draft Registration Cards, 1942, Michigan]
