| Notes: |
His wife Frances was one of the local area midwives. John
loved to fiddle and all the children played music. Their
farm was next to "Mud Lake" (local name). The Carey
family had an adjoining farm. E-mail from Sam Atkinson dated June 20,
2000. In the April 21, 1930 census, John was 49 years old and living with his wife Frances, twelve children and his 88-year-old mother on their own farm in Palmer Township. The family did not own a radio. He said he was married when he was 25 and Frances was 17 years old. He stated that he was born in Minnesota and both his parents were born in Germany. |
