There are some great new photographs of Jon and Julia Dahl's October wedding, the Ralph and Lois Mullally family on Christmas Eve 2005, and Rube Stimler and his daughters Helen Stimler Lundblad and Marie Stimler Braun, courtesy of Scott Stimler. Finally, there is a 22-minute Real Media video with footage and narrative by Uncle Spence Stimler from the 1999 Stimler-Kampa Minnesota reunion entitled "A Journey Home." It includes a tour of the church in St. Augusta which Father Valentine, Anton Stimmler and John Kaufmann built, and in which John Kaufmann and Mary Ann Imholte were wed; a tour of the Stimler homes in Minnesota; footage taken at Lake Julia and St. John's Parish Cemetery in Foley, and scenes from the Stimler-Kampa family reunion in St. Cloud. It finishes with a brief tribute to family members who attended the 1999 reunion but who have since passed away.

Lucia Nezelek has graciously and expertly translated six more of the Hunck "Letters from America", those written in Duelm, Benton Co., MN on January 2, 1892; St. Paul, MN, on January 19, 1893; St. Paul, MN on March 25, 1893; Duelm, Benton Co., MN on September 8, 1896; Duelm, Benton Co. MN on December 13, 1899; and Duelm, Benton Co., MN on February 2, 1900. We greatly appreciate Lucia's work and the insight these letters provide into pioneer life in Benton and Ramsey Counties in Minnesota.

Stanley C. Kampa 
Stanley Kampa, age 88, of St. Cloud, died Sunday October 30, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 am Thursday, November 3, 2005 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm, and burial was in the parish cemetery.
Stanley Kampa was born April 13, 1917 in Palmer Twp., Sherburne, Minnesota to Charles and Mary (Kaproth) Kampa. He married Frances Miller on November 9, 1937 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Duelm. He had lived and farmed his whole life in Palmer Township. Stan liked to travel and fish. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son and daughters, James (Ginny), St. Cloud; Lois (John) Blattner, Sun City West, AZ; Jean (George) Schloegl, Waite Park; Sue (Stan) Johnson, St. Cloud; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great granchildren, and a sister, Caroline Mathis, Albert Lea. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, on November 9, 1998, an infant son and daughter, and grandson, David Liutgen, one brother and three sisters.


Christine Catherine Murphy was born in New York City on Christmas Day, 1911 and died in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 13, 2005. She came from New York in 1914 on an Orphan Train to the St. Cloud area. She was taken in by the Jacob and Mary (Waldera) Kampa family at the age of two but never adopted, and grew up with the family in Ramey, Minnesota.
She married Jess C. Boggie and they later divorced. She had five sons: David Kampa, Richard, Jesse Jr., David, and Stephen Boggie. Christine Murphy Kampa Boggie was the most senior attendee of the Kampa Branches Family Reunion held in St. Cloud, Minnesota on July 1, 2001.
As an adult Christine lived all her life in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. It was there that she died at the age of 93, survived by her five sons, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and relatives. She was buried at St. Elizabeth Church cemetery in Brennyville, Minnesota.


A Memorial Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Helen M. Hengel, age 71 of St. Cloud who died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Helen was born on June 19, 1934 in Foley, Minnesota to Alvin and Alma (Stimler) Hamer. She married Virgil J. Hengel on June 17, 1952 at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. Helen lived all of her married life first in Texas and then in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish.
Helen was an avid quilter, seamstress, and crafter. She also enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, and traveling. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed. She also had enough love for 32 foster babies.
Helen is survived by her husband Virgil of St. Cloud; children; Linda Williams (Roosevelt) of White Bear Lake, Mary Bauer (Joseph) of St. Cloud, Mike Hengel (Barb) of St. Cloud, Karen Raschick (Matthew) of White Bear Lake, Patricia Schrapp (Kenneth) of St. Louis Park, Toni Thole (Doug) of Brooklyn Park; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and sister, Marge Randall (John) of Warsaw, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
 
Helen M. Hengel 1934-2005

Thanks to Marlene Armentrout's research, the following Balder family biographies have been added (each including their obituaries): Chester Roy Haworth, Helen Marie Laughery Estes (née LaFurge), Constance M. Mook Laughery (née Sannon), Ralph Bernard Winkelman, and siblings James E. Kane , Esther Zelanka (née Kane), Myrtle Marie Schumm (née Kane) and Lucille Elsie Schumm (née Kane).
Marlene's beloved husband, Bruce, passed away unexpectedly on May 2 of cardiac arrest in his sleep. Our hearts go out in sympathy to Marlene and our prayers are with her and her family at this sad time.

Residence of Johann and Lenaney Stimmler (née Schmitt) 
In 2003 cousin Margaret Stimmler took a series of photographs of the Stimmler family residence in Manayunk, Pennsylvania in the 1860s. Johann and Lenaney Stimmler and son Anthony are listed in the as living at 166 Oak, Manayunk in the 1866 Philadelphia City Directory, and likely lived there earlier than that too. The cozy, three-story building is made of local micascist stone that has been stuccoed over in intervening years.
Also LoisMarie Okonek has taken some photographs of various Minneapolis Anderson, Rhoades and Stickney family residences at 1912 Clinton Avenue, 3237 Cedar Avenue, 3649 Elliot Avenue, 3749 Chicago Avenue (site of Nokomis Theater) and 4233 Sheridan Avenue, Minneapolis. Included are pictures of St. Stephen's Rectory, where Frank and Ruby Rhoades Stickney were married in August 1912. We would like to express our deep appreciation to Margaret and LoisMarie for their fine photography.

Due to cousin Robert Mullally's research, there now are biographies for the following family members: Mary K. Tedeger (née Dingmann), Ann E. Horvereid (née Dingmann), Barbara J. Dingmann, Michael Dingmann, Mary Ann Barbara Mullally (née Thurk), Leo Paul Mullally, Ann Marie Kresky (née Mullally), John Anthony Mullally, George Philip Mullally, Mary Clare Wocken (née Mullally), Ruth Frances Mokosso (née Mullally), Joseph Henry "Jay" Dingmann, Jr., Michelle Marie Danson (née Mullally), in addition to an update to Robert J. Dingmann's biography. Thank you very much, Bob, for sharing your research with the extended family group.


Brothers Pat and Charlie Stimler dug out and reset their Stimler grandparents' sunken footstone at St. John's Cemetery, Foley, Minnesota. This series of photographs was featured in the most recent SKI News. Thank you very much, Pat and Charlie!

Friend Martin Holz has shared a Timeline of Münsterland developed by Michael Brinkman of Quincy, Illinois. Martin's cousin, Lucia Nezelek, translated another of Mr. Hunck's letters, this one from Duelm, Benton Co. MN, ? Dec. 1876. We extend our thanks to both Martin and Lucia for their thoughtful contributions.

New baby girl Lucia Greenwood Rioseco!  Congratulations to the happy parents! We have a new member in our family, as of June 19, 2005! She is Lucia Greenwood Rioseco, born to Anne and Mauricio Rioseco in Portland, Oregon. Lucia weighed 9 pounds. Congratulations to the happy parents and to doting grandfather Ray Greenwood!

Ann Kampa, age 97, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10AM Friday, July 1, 2005 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father Frederick H. Taggart, O.S.A. officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Matthew Catholic Church. Visitation 1-8PM Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Ann will be at til the time of the Mass. She was born in Little Falls, Minnesota on September 21, 1907, the daughter of Andrew and Mary Evans, and was a resident of the Flint area since 1929. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella. Surviving are many nieces and nephews; "Aunt Ann's" special family, Marilyn and husband Dan Burch and their children, Theresa and husband Tony Kratofil, Mike Kolena, Mary Kolena, Robert and wife Rose-Anne Kolena. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, in 1975; eight brothers and a sister.

Several of the family relationships pages have been updated in both content and layout, including a new Abfalter Family Relationships and Robert Stickney Line. There have been updates to both the Hall relationship and Foley relationship lines. In addition, there are new biographies for William Stickney (1592-1664/65), Daniel Stickney (1762-1824), his wife Abigail Webster, Leon Theodore Kampa, his wife Ann Margaret Evans, and siblings Frank Abfalter and Eleanore Jenson (née Abfalter).
