Lucille was born to James Patrick and Elsie Balder Kane in Foley, Benton, Minnesota
on Jan. 2, 1909, the eldest of six children. She attended schools in Fromberg and Edgar,
graduating from Edgar High School as valedictorian of her class in 1927.
She married Jim Schumm in Billings, Montana on Sept. 17, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1981. Lucille lived in the Edgar area all of her adult life. She was the postmistress in Edgar for 29 years, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed reading agricultural reports. She also played piano by ear and was very good. Lucille died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 1990 in Billings Deaconess Hospital, Billings, Yellowstone, Montana. She was 81 years old. |
