At the time of the April 21, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Stanley was 13 years old and living with his parents and sister Caroline on the family farm in Palmer Township. The family did not own a radio. Stanley was attending school at the time. Stanley married Frances Miller on November 9, 1937 at St. Lawrence Parish in Duelm, Benton, Minnesota. They had four children: James, Lois, Jean and Sue. At the time of the Apr. 13, 1940 U.S. Federal Census, Stanley was 23 years old and living with his wife Francis and their 11-month-old son, James, on a farm they rented for $6 month in Palmer Township, Sherburne, Minnesota. Both he and his wife lived in the same house in April 1935. Stanley was working as a farmer on the farm 40 hours a week for the last 50 weeks, for which he made $440 in income. His highest grade of completed education was 7th grade; wife Francis had completed the 8th grade. Stanley loved to travel and fish. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He died on October 30, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota. He was 88 years old and preceded in death by by his wife, Frances, on Nov. 9, 1998, an infant son and daughter, and grandson, David Liutgen, one brother and three sisters. |
