Notes:At the time of the July 9, 1895 Minnesota state census Bertha was 4 years old and living with her
parents and nine siblings on the family farm in St. George Township, Benton Co. MN. Bertha
had been living there all her life, and both her parents were of foreign birth.
 
At the time of the April 25, 1930 federal census, Bertha was 38 years old and living with her
husband Roy and daughter Lorraine in their own home in Foley Village. The value of the
house was listed as being $1,500 ($15,000 in 2001 currency) and the family owned a radio.
They lived next door to the John F. Hall family. Bertha stated both her parents were born
in Germany. She and Roy were married when she was 23 and he was 30 years old.
