Notes: At the time of the July 9, 1895 Minnesota state census Louis was 2 years old and living with his parents and nine

siblings on the family farm in St. George Township, Benton Co. MN. He had been living there all his life, and both his parents were of foreign birth.

On June 5, 1917, Louis was 24 years old, single, and working as a farmer on the family farm in Foley, Benton, Minnesota. He was short and stout, with light blue eyes and dark brown hair.

At the time of the April 8, 1930 federal census, Louie was 37 years old and living with his wife and three children on their own farm in St. George Township which was valued at $1,200 (approx. $12,000 in 2001 dollars). The family owned a radio.

At the time of the Apr. 5, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Louis G. was 46 years old and living with his 46-year-old wife Viola M. and their three children on the family farm valued at $800 in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota. They had been living in the same house on Apr. 1, 1935. Both Louis and his wife had completed the 5th grade, as had 17-year-old son Joseph L., who, like his parents, was no longer attending school. Louis was a farmer and Joseph L. was a farm laborer on the family farm. Children Louella M. (age 15) and Ralph J. (age 13) were attending school; she was in the 7th grade and he was in the 3rd.

Louis died at home (10th Ave. N.) on May 4, 1971.

Sally Kampa recalls her father-in-law, Louis Kampa, as being a mild fellow and a very religious man. His wife Viola was a dominant woman who handled all the finances in the family.
