Notes:

Edward lived in Neudorf, Germany, before he moved to America. He immigrated with his parents and siblings on the passenger ship "Saxonia" which sailed

from Hamburg on April 20, 1870 and arrived in New York on May 6, 1870.

Edward and Catherine settled on a homestead in St. George Township, Benton County near Duelm, MN.

At the time of the 1880 federal census, Edward was 22 years old and living with his wife Kate, daughter Lucy, age 3 and son Charles, 2 months old, on their farm in St. George, Benton county, MN. His in-laws, Henry and Mary Ann Voerding, lived on the farm next door with their son Matthew. [Source: NA Film No. T9-0615, p. 169B]

At the time of the May 9, 1885 Minnesota state census, Edward was 27 years old and living with his wife Katie and their four children: Lucy (age 8), Charles (age 5), Barney (age 3) and Frank (1 year old). Katie's younger brother Mathias and his wife Annie lived two farms away.

Edward spent his last years living with Ellsworth and Alvina Balder. He had been ailing for some time and passed away at their home in St. George township of a celebral hemorrhage on October 1, 1934 at 4:30 p.m. at the age of 75.
