Alvina graduated from St. Cloud Teacher's College and taught rural school in the Benton County
School District. She and Ellsworth farmed in St. George Township until 1963, after which they
moved to Sauk Rapids.
At the time of the April 16, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Alvina was 26 years old and living with her husband Ellsworth and their four children on a rented farm in Haven Township, Sherburne County, Minnesota. He was working as a farmer in general farming. She stated that she was married when she was 21 and Ellsworth was 33 years old.
