They had been living in the same house on Apr. 1, 1935. Both his father and his mother had completed the 5th grade, as had he; like them, he was no longer attending school. Louis was a farmer and Joseph L. was a farm laborer on the family farm. Siblings Louella M. (age 15) and Ralph J. (age 13) were attending school; she was in the 7th grade and he was in the 3rd.
