At the time of the Apr. 5, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Louella M. was 15 years old and living with her parents and two siblings on the family farm valued at $800 in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota. They had been living in the same house on Apr. 1, 1935. Both her father and her mother had completed the 5th grade, as had her 17-year-old brother Joseph L.; the three of them were no longer attending school. Louis was a farmer and Joseph L. was a farm laborer on the family farm. She and brother Ralph J. (age 13) were attending school; she was in the 7th grade and he was in the 3rd. Severin and Louella married on Oct. 19, 1945 in Duelm, Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis before moving to St. Cloud in 1955. They also lived at 715 12th Street North in Sauk Rapids, Benton, Minnesota. Louella was employed in dietetics at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center for 13 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and a former member of VFW Post 428 Auxiliary. Louella and Severin were living at 1125 36th Ave. N. in St. Cloud prior to her death. Exactly a month to the day after Louella passed away, her widowed husband Severin died on March 4, 1999. |
