| Notes: | At the time of the April 19, 1930 census, Helen was 3 months old and living with her parents and 6 siblings in their |
| own home valued at $1,500 ($15,000 in 2001 dollars) in Foley Village, MN. The
family owned a radio. Her father was working as a
mechanic in a garage.
At the time of the Apr. 27, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Helen was 10 years old and living with her parents and eight siblings ranging in age from 18 to 5 years in a house rented for $16/month in Buffalo, Wright, Minnesota. Her father had completed his education through his junior year of high school, and her mother had completed three years of college. She and all her siblings were attending school with the exception of brother Junior and her youngest sibling, five-year-old brother Gilbert. Junior had never attended school. In April 1935 the family had been living in a rented house in Benton County, Minnesota. Her father was employed as an auto mechanic in a garage; he had worked 26 weeks and was unemployed for 7 weeks in 1939, earning $750 that year. In 1953 Helen and Rudy were living at 1419 W. 27th Ave., Apt. 1, in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota. She was working as a clerk at the Fifth NW National Bank. "Worked at various bookeeping jobs from 1947 at Food Producers to put Rudy through business school so he could become a court reporter. After divorce, ran a resort in Detroit Lakes, MN, and then worked for Dain Corporation in Minneapolis, MN. Moved to Oregon in 1980 and managed the Rental Sales Gallery of the Portland Art Museum for 17 years. Received an unrefusable offer to be resident manager of Breakers Point Homeowners Assn., a condominium group. Cannon Beach has the most distinguishable landmark on the Oregon Coast, Haystack Rock, which is visible to me every day. "Have lived in Minneapolis, MN; Houston, TX; Clarinda, IA; and Portland, OR. The death of my daughter, Tracy, has been the hardest thing I have ever had to endure. Even harder than the parents and my five siblings. My father said that he never expected to bury his children, and that it is an unnatural thing for any parent. I agree." -- Helen Lundblad (née Stimler) |
