At the time of the April 2, 1930 census, Robert was 20 years old and living with his parents and brothers Jerome and Ralph in the family home valued at $5,000 (approx. $50,000 in 2001 dollars) on Market St. in Clear Lake township. The family owned a radio. Robert stated that he was born in Minnesota as were both his parents. His father John was the proprietor of a retail hardware store at which brother Ralph worked as a helper. Brother Jerome was a mail carrier on a rural route. |
