His father was working as a hardware man. At the time of the Apr. 15, 1910 U.S. federal census, Jerome was 9 years old and living with his parents and 12 siblings in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. His father was working as a retail hardware merchant. William was attending school at the time. At the time of the Jan. 30, 1920 U.S. federal census, Jerome was 19 years old and living with his parents and ten siblings in Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. He was a farm laborer working outside the home. At the time of the April 2, 1930 census, Jerome was 30 years old and living with his parents and brothers Ralph and Robert in the family home valued at $5,000 (approx. $50,000 in 2001 dollars) on Market St. in Clear Lake township. The family owned a radio. Jerome stated that he was born in Minnesota as were both his parents. His father John was the proprietor of a retail hardware store at which brother Ralph worked as a helper. |
