"Magdalena Haaf, the eldest daughter of
John and Katherine Haaf, was born August 25, 1881 at
Clear Lake, Minnesota. She spent her girlhood there and in 1899 was married to Joseph L. Kampa.
They resided at Foley, Minn., until 1906 when they moved to Claremont. Mrs. Kampa passed away July 12, 1934 at the
Owatonna City Hospital after an illness of three weeks. She was the mother of ten children, nine of whom together with her
husband, mourn her loss. They are: Edmund, George and
Donald of Milwaukee, Wisc., Frances, (Mrs. George Windhurst) of
Daly City, Calif., Martha, (Mrs. John Munson) of
Minneapolis, Alvina, (Mrs. William Morse) of Winona,
and Louise, Eugene and Dorothy
at home.
"Besides the immediate family, she is survived by her father, four sisters,
four brothers and three grandchildren.
"The funeral was held at 10:30 Saturday morning from St. Francis de Sales
Church with Father Misiak officiating at the services. Interment was made in Sacred Heart Cemetery at Owatonna.
"Mrs. Kampa will long be mourned by her family as a loving and self-sacrificing
mother and by her church and community as an interested and willing worker.
"Relatives present at the funeral besides the family were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haaf
of Clear Lake, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heydman of Red Wing, Mrs. Mary Hoffman of Robbinsdale, Gilbert Haaf
of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Stimler,
Mrs. Tony Stimler and Mrs. Roy Latterel
and Louis Kampa of Foley, Minn.
"The pall bearers were: John Wartenberg, Chris Van Ruden, William Edmond,
George Vagstad, Sam Mosher and V. A. Jaeb."
