| Notes: | In the April 4, 1930 census, Louise was 13 years old and living with her parents, older brother Don and her two |
| younger siblings in the family home in Claremont, Minnesota. Their house was valued
at $2,500 (approximately $25,000 in 2001 dollars) and the family owned a radio.
At the time of the Apr. 19, 1940 U.S. Federal census, Louise was 23 years old and living with her 26-year-old husband Harold at 524-1/2 North First in Marshalltown, Marshall, Iowa. They both were high school graduates who were living in Claremont, Minnesota as of Apr. 1, 1935. Harold was employed as a salesman in retail hardware, and worked 66 hours the week of Mar. 24-30, 1940. He was employed for 52 weeks in 1939 and earned $840; however, he received $50 or more from sources other than money wages or salary. Louise and Kirk lived at 2341 Fleetwood Drive in San Bruno for many years before moving to Aptos, California in the mid-1990s. Sister Frances lived close by in Daly City and didn't want them to leave the immediate area; she unfortunately had a stroke just 18 days after the Kirkpatricks moved. (Don Kampa's memories of his sister Louise): "She married Harold Kirkpatrick who was a neighbor boy. They got along very well. . . . Kirk was a good family man and they raised a happy family. "Because Claremont school was small, Louise and I were in many of the same classes. We enjoyed working together. It also gave me a chance to tease her. Somehow it turned out that she became a liberal, and I became a conservative. She's the one I try not to argue with anymore." |
