Notes:
Gayle Dixon reminisces on her mother:  "Inez Bertha was born in Marion, ND to Clara and Ernest Greenwood. She and Ray lived in Redwood City, CA and Inez was a meter maid. It was an interesting time for her. She rode an official scooter through the streets of Redwood City and issued parking tickets. It was in the 1970's when police were referred to as "pigs". Police and meter maids were given "Pig Charms" when they were personally called that name. Inez had several charms! Inez loved to give her grandchildren rides on the scooter but only when she was "off duty", not while she was writing out tickets.

"Inez was active in her church. She was dedicated to visiting the sick. She regularly took Holy Communion to sick and elderly patients in the hospital and to the home bound. It gave her much peace and happiness.

"Inez and Ray enjoyed belonging to a square dance group. Inez, herself, was a member of the 'Sweet Adelines', a women's group of talented barbershop quartet singers.

"She was not a person who could just sit and watch TV. Inez always had to keep her hands busy so she would knit and crochet afghans. She had so many afghans, and had already given them to all her grandchildren, that she started taking them to the doctors and nurses she visited and then began to give them to the dog groomer and to anyone else she had personal contact with.

"Inez still had her home in Redwood City, CA. One day when her family went there to visit her, Inez was unable to get out of bed with her pain. They took her to to a hospital in an ambulance and she never went home after that. She resided in a nursing home in Carmichael, (Sacramento) CA for only three months. She died at the nursing home of pancreatic cancer, at the age of 89, December 1, 1999. I still miss her a lot. She was my very best friend."
