In the 1910 census the Kaufmann family consisted of John Kaufmann age 61, born in Pennsylvania, Saloon keeper;
Magdaline age 51, married for 5 years, no children born in Canada;
Philomina age 23; Regina age 20;
Alma age 15; Henrieta
age 14 and Nels Nelson, lodger born in Minnesota, who worked at a book binder shop.
At the time of the April 11, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Alma was 37 years old and living with her husband Henry and their two children on their own farm in Mayhew Lake, Benton County, Minnesota. The family owned a radio. Alma stated that she was born in Minnesota, her father was born in Pennsylvania and mother was born in Ohio. She said she was married when she was 26 and Henry was 25 years old [Source: 1930 U.S. Census, Roll: T626-1078; p. 7A; E.D. 8]. Alma died on May 7, 1992 at the age of 100. |
