Abfalser, Jacob 20
Abfalser, Joseph 16 (must be an error, supposedly Peter)
Abfalser, Joseph 12 (any idea on what happened to this brother?)

At the time of the September 10, 1850 federal census, Jacob was
24 years old and working as a farmer with his brother Peter on a
farm owned by him, Peter and their mother Mary C. Aphalter in
the Township of Westphalia, Clinton County MI. Mary's share of
the real estate was valued at $500, Jacob's at $200 and Peter's at
$200. Also living with them was their 15 year old brother Joseph.
They all were born in Prussia. The Adelman family, who would
also immigrate to Benton County MN, lived three farms away.

At the time of the 1880 federal census, Jacob was 56 years old and
living with his wife Josephine, six children and two stepsons in Lyons,
Ionia County, Michigan. He was working as a farmer along assisted
by his two stepsons, Henry (age 15) and Lewis Kruger (age 10). He
stated he was born in Prussia, as were both his parents. All his
children were born in Michigan, as were both his stepsons. [Source: NA
