HELEN HENGEL

GOES HUNTING AND
SHARES SOME MEMORIES

Late November, 2001

"We are still in the middle of a nice snow storm. We've had 14 inches so far and an hour South of us they have 32 inches. Virg spent two days blowing and shoveling snow and its still falling. We spent part of the morning cleaning off trees and hedges as the snow was so heavy Helen Hengel in a deer stand. on them. Plus I had put out Xmas lights and they were all sagging off. Got it all under control for now. To think they were golfing last week in 60 degree weather.
"We had an okay deer hunt got 4 for 4 but had eight tags. Opening morning just like clock work the deer all went on vacation and were pretty scarce. I shot a doe opening night and we got two more and a small buck. The boys are still going up to the land to bow hunt and now with the snow maybe their chances will be good. We bought a 5th wheeler to put up on our land and it goes up in the spring. We have taken nice big motor homes and have had electricity but now will be generator and battery operated. I'm really anxious to get on our land and be able to watch the deer. It's so great up there peace and quiet. We do take a TV with a VCR and you guessed it watch all the hunting films. We hear 'Hey, let's go hunting' a lot.
"Virg turns 70 this week end - Dec. 1st. The kids are all coming on Sunday and we are going out to brunch. He got a new bowling ball. Now I expect him to go out on the tour -- haha
"With the Holidays coming upon us I'd like to share some memories with you. I remember Grandma Stimler being St. Nick and Judy Hall and I kneeling down for her and saying our prayers. We got bags of candy. Marge and Mary Ann would smart off and get the switch and bags of onion and potato peels. I remember the Xmas Popeye (Florence) has her breast removed and she laid on the couch and Joe and Red were there with their two darling sons. I remember Marie sitting on the little red stool over the furnace wrapping gifts, they always had such beautiful sparkly paper and pretty bows. I remember going to midnight mass and we sometimes walked and it would be snowy typical Christmas night. I hope each and everyone of you has wonderful memories to share and that you make many new memories for the young to someday remember with the joy and love we all look back on."
