Notes:Elizabeth Schulte was born in Newburg, Wisconsin and she spent her early life there up to the
time of her marriage.
After she married Barney Voerding in Newburg, WI, they came back to Minnesota and farmed
near St. Cloud.
At the time of the May 25, 1885 Minnesota state census, Elizabeth was 25 years old and living
with her husband Barney and their one-year-old daughter, Martha, on the family farm in
St. George Twp., Benton Co., MN. All three were born in the United States.
At the time of the July 12, 1895 Minnesota state census, Elizabeth was 35 years old and living
with her husband Barney and six children on a farm in St. George Township. She said she was
born in Wisconsin and both her parents were of foreign birth. She stated she had been in
Minnesota 15 years and lived all those years in the same enumeration district. Nick and
Mary Kampa and Joseph N. and Mary Kampa and their family lived on a farm next door.
After farming for several years, Barney left for Montana to settle a claim there. The claim was
justified and then the Voerdings returned to St. Cloud.
