| Notes: | Dad was always proud to say that during his lifetime he worked for all four branches of the military. After getting |
| out of the army he
worked for the government as a civil engineer. Education was very important to him and
while raising his brood of six he was always taking classes toward getting a college
degree. Even though he never attained that goal he did reach the level of GS 13 while
working for the government.
One of the most important things he taught his children was to work hard and to always have a sense of humor. He was quite a practical joker and we, his children, have many fond memories of growing up in a household full of good times. Dad was in the National Guard and was often sent to Minnesota for training during the summer. The whole family would then go to Foley and spend time with Grandma Stimler. Dad loved to joke with Grandma and would often work around her house and yard. One summer he even broke his foot while cutting down trees. Dad had his first of several heart attacks while living in Maryland. Due to an enlarged heart he took an early retirement and he and Mom settled into Cloquet, MN. It was there that his final heart attack took place. Dad's funeral was attended by many relatives from Maryland, Minnesota and Nebraska. It was a wonderful opportunity for so many family members to come together. Dad would have enjoyed being there as we all recalled some of the humerous stories of the past. |
