| Notes: |
"As the oldest child of Merv and Deed I had the opportunity
to get to know many of my aunts and uncles quite well.
Our summers were spent in Minnesota visiting with
Grandma Stimler and Popeye (Florence) along with Joe
and Red and AuntieRee and John or going out to Lake
Julia. Some of my fondest memories were times spent
visiting Leona and Jack and staying over night at their
apartment in Little Falls. I also got to spend time with
Alma (my godmother) and Al who lived around the corner
from Grandma's house. I remember Alma being an
especially good cook and getting lots of big hugs from
her. While living in Omaha we were close to the Halls
and our holidays were always spent together. Judy, their
oldest, was like the big sister I never had. I can still
remember the laughter of Red, Annie, Leona, Popeye,
Marie, Alma and my Mom over some silly thing one of
them said or did. There was always laughter when the
Stimler girls got together.
"My parents put me through Catholic school. Because of Mom and Dad I grew up with family values and am close to my brothers and sisters. This foundation has helped me in raising my three children and in being a stepmother to three others. I love being a "MeMa" and can never spend enough time with my grandchildren and family. "When my children were young I was able to work out of my home. I had my own secretarial business and employed fifteen women doing typing at home. Once my children were in school I worked as a legal secretary and later began work in the medical field as a bookkeeper and office manager. I never worked on a "career" and after Jerry and I married my salary allowed us to put our children through college, pay for weddings and take some nicer vacations. "We have enjoyed a good marriage and I have been blessed with a wonderful man who not only helped me raise my children, but has been here for me and them every step of the way. We now reside in a community in Berlin, MD called Ocean Pines. I am involved in everything here. Through the church I lector on Sundays and help out with fund raisers when they arise. I am sure my Mom would be happy to know that I am now a bridge player. I play both bridge and Mah Jongg at least once a week. I am an active member of the garden club, the women's club, the craft club, a video club, a book club, a dinner group, and an exercise class. Jerry and I visit our children and grandchildren in Montana, Illinois and Mississippi throughout the year. We go to Florida for part of the winter and try to visit with friends in California. I am truly blessed to be living such a wonderful life." |
