1957. An English major, Gretchen edited the Catherine Wheel, the college newspaper, for two
years. After graduation, she was hired by Fides Press at Notre Dame University to edit a quarterly
journal, Apostolic Perspectives. At Iowa State University, Gretchen taught Calligraphy in the Art
Department for ten years.
