Notes: In the April 20, 1930 federal census, Margaret was 7 years
old and living with her parents and older sister Elsie in Foley,
Minnesota. Her folks rented their home for $15 a month and
their family did not have a radio.
Margaret met Ed while he was in the hospital in St. Cloud
recovering from brain fever he had contacted while in the
Army in Mississippi. In the course of events, Margaret
transferred from the Children's Hospital in Denver to
the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Ed had
been sent there for radio refresher. There they were
married. Ed was discharged March 13, 1946 and they
moved to New Jersey where Ed's folks lived. They
returned to Minnesota and raised their ever-growing
family. Ed farmed, worked construction, and was a
guard at St. Cloud Reformatory. Margaret went back to
nursing after the death of their youngest child, Patrick.
She and Ed raised a large and beautiful family on their
own. The children are all successful in their own right.
Their story is one of hard-work, perseverance, dedication,
and love.
