Notes: Heartie grew to womanhood and attended country school in Haven Township. In 1919, she graduated from the
  University of Minnesota, then taught school in North Dakota. Heartie was united in marriage with George Norden on April 6, 1922 in St. Cloud, MN. Most of their married life was spent in farming in the Clear Lake area. They operated the ferry at Clearwater in 1922-23 and again for a time after the bridge went out. George preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1978.
 
Heartie was a resident at St. Cloud Manor where she passed away on Saturday, Apr. 11, 1987 at the age of 86 years. She was a member of the Clearwater United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, 61-year member of OES Cloverleaf Chapter No. 128, Clear Lake and Clearwater Senior Citizens and was the first Clearwater Senior Citizens Queen.
