had been living in Minnesota for 15 years. Her mother was born in Virginia.
At the time of the June 13, 1900 U.S. federal census, Florence was 9 years old and living with her parents and five siblings in Watab, Benton, Minnesota. She and three of her siblings were attending school. Her father was working as a farmer. At the time of the June 8, 1905 Minnesota state census, Florence was 14 years old and living with her parents, seven siblings, an 18-year-old farm laborer born in Minnesota, Fayette Putnam, and her 73-year-old maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Keller. At the time of the May 7, 1910 U.S. federal census, Florence was 19 years old and living with her parents, seven siblings, her 78-year-old maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Keller, and Jacob Schuppel, a 27-year-old single farm laborer born in Germany. Her father was a farmer in general farming, her brother Freed K. was working as a telephone operator for the railroad, and brothers N.K. and Robert L. were working as farm laborers on the home farm along with the aforementioned Jacob Schuppel. At the time of the Apr. 8, 1930 U.S. federal census, Florence was 39 years old and living with her husband Elbert and their 5-year-old son Nathan in a home they rented for $45 a month at 216 7th Street South in Saint Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota. Elbert was working as the district manager of a life insurance company. The family didn't own a radio. Florence passed away in Houston, Harris, Texas on Oct. 24, 1967. She was 76 years old. Twenty-six years later her son would die in Houston as well. |
