Gene Kampa reminisces on his Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Charley: "Lizzie was Elizabeth Haaf and they lived in Red Wing, MN. My sister Frances took all of us kids to a park in Red Wing driving a Model T Ford. There was a steep hill into the park and Frances wasn't very competent as a driver. I recall Louise getting scared and bailing out. The Mississippi River was about 100 yards from the bottom of the hill and I don't recall that Louise was much of a swimmer. Louise thought that was double jeapordy, I think! Anyway, that was the only time I met Lizzie and Charley . . . . Louise probably has different memories of this episode but she is wrong!" -- from a July 10, 2004 e-mail to Rae Bordua
