As of June 1, 1905, Mayme was 14 years old and living with her parents, seven siblings and Patrick Murphy (age 12), her adopted brother, in Stockton, Portage, Wisconsin. Mayme married George D. Balder on June 21, 1921 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Custer, Portage, Wisconsin. She was 30 years old. In the April 2, 1930 U.S. federal census, Mamie was 39 years old and living with her husband George and their four children in their own home in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota.
