He was attending school at the time. On June 5, 1917, George was 22 years old and working as a farm laborer on the family farm in St. George Twp., Benton, Minnesota. He was living in Foley. He was of medium height and build, with grey eyes and dark brown hair. George spent 8 months in France in World War I.
