Mary Jane and her four younger siblings could not read or write, nor were they going to school yet.
At the time of the June 14, 1905 Minnesota state census, Mary Jane was 12 years old and living with her parents and siblings on R.F.D. 2 in Buckman, Morrison, Minnesota. Her father had been living in the same enumeration district for 25 years and her mother for 17 years. Her father was working as a farmer. At the time of the May 2, 1910 U.S. federal census, Mary Jane was 17 years old and living with her parents and five siblings ranging in age from 11 to 19 years old in Buckman Township, Morrison, Minnesota. Her parents had been married 21 years, and her mother was the mother of six children, all of whom were still living. Both elder brother Robert and his father were working as farm laborers. Her father told the enumerator that he had emmigrated to the United States in 1867. Mary Jane died June 9, 1924 in Olmsted County, Minnesota at the age of 31. |
