Louise E. Kirkpatrick, 98, passed away peacefully at her home in Aptos, California, surrounded by her loving family on January 26, 2015.
She was born in Claremont, Minnesota, the last remaining of 9 children. She married Harold (Kirk) Kirkpatrick on September 3, 1939.
A year later they migrated to San Francisco, California where they started a family. Louise is survived by four sons, David, James (Diane), Jan (Cathy) and Joel (Lorrie) Kirkpatrick in addition to 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
After raising her children in San Bruno, she returned to school and earned her BA Degree in History from San Francisco State University. She began her career as a librarian at various Community Colleges. She was a member of AAUW, the League of Women Voters, and Resurrection Catholic Community.
Her passions included travel, politics, literature, music, environmental and humanitarian causes.
In 1994 she and her husband moved to Aptos to be near the ocean.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 4th at Resurrection Catholic Community Church in Aptos at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Hospice of Santa Cruz County, or Catholic Charities.
