Obituary of John Siscely, Benton County News, April 5, 1945.
"John Siscely, pioneer resident of Foley passed away at his home on Easter Sunday, April 1st. Mr. Siscely was born at Fort Ripley on February 6, 1862. With his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Siscely, he moved to Gilmanton township at the age of seven years.
"As a young man he worked for Foley Bros. in their logging camps and lumber business here for a number of years. For twenty years he operated a livery barn in Foley following which he retired and has made his home here until the time of his death.
"Mrs. Siscely survives, along with two sisters and one brother -- Mrs. Emma Rockwell, of Canada; Mrs. Agnes Fischer, Sioux Falls; Frank Siscely, Sven.
"Mr. Siscely was a member of the Holy Name Society of Saint John's Catholic Church.
"Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Foley with Rev. John Kroll officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
"The pallbearers were: George Timmers, Thos. P. Brenny, Maurice Thomas, Pat Thomas, Frank Kozisek and Bob Studer."
