He had undergone a minor operation and was apparently recovering when his heart failed. He came here from Foley in 1905 and operated his blacksmith business here until 1940 when he went to California to make his home. He sold his business to Gus Newman, who in turn sold to Leonard Casper the present owner.
"Mrs. Kampa passed away July 12, 1934. Survivors are five daughters and four sons, Mrs. Geo. Windhurst, (Frances), Mrs. Harold Kirkpatrick (Louise), Mrs. Dorothy Fastigi, and George and Eugene, all of California, Mrs. J. Munson (Martha) and Donald of Minneapolis, Edmund P. of Milwaukee and Mrs. Wm. Morse (Alvina) of Winona.
"Interment was beside his wife in the Sacred Heart cemetery at Owatonna.
"Mrs. Windhurst accompanied the remains from California, and will visit relatives here for a few weeks before returning home."
