at the time. He stated both his parents were born in Germany.
Tony Stimler was on the school board in 1912 and 1916, and was town treasurer from 1914-1916. At the time of the January 19, 1920 federal census, Anthony V. Stimler was 47 years old and living with his wife Mary T. and their eight children on in their own home in Foley Village, Benton county, MN. He was working as the manager of an auto garage [Source: 1920 U.S. Federal Census, E.D. 81, p. 20A]. In the April 22, 1930 federal census, Tony was 58 years old and living with wife Mary and their seven youngest children in Foley Village, Minnesota. They owned their home which was valued at $3,000 (or $30,000 in 2001 dollars) and the family had a radio. Tony stated that his father was born in Alsace Lorraine and his mother in Germany. He and Mary were married when he was 26 and she was 19 years old. Marge Randall's memories of her grandfather: "He always wore a boy scout hat when he went out on the lake and every once in awhile the wind would blow it off especially when he was with my Dad who always had a speed boat." |
