1861 April 21 Enlisted - Co. A 21 Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, organized from parishioners of St. John the Baptist Parish, Manayunk, PA (Jackson's Rifles) (Arthur Shields, Capt.; Jacob Hoffman, 1st Lt.; Dennis Mullen, 2nd Lt.)
  April 29 Mustered in - 4th Sergeant.
  May 23 Reduced to Private.
  June/July Treated in regimental hospital - Chambersburg and Harpers Ferry.
  August 9 Mustered out - Philadelphia, PA.
1864 October Enlisted in construction corps (Capt. Shaw)
    Treated in Chattanooga and Nashville (7th Ward).
1865 Feb./March Discharged - Nashville or Chattanooga.
  August 21 Married Crescentia Sohn.
1866 June 19 Johann born - died Jan. 19, 1871.
1867 November Enlisted as teamster - Perryville and Ft. Monroe.
1868 February 10 Franciska born - died Jan. 15, 1871.
  May Discharged.
  Fall Was in Victoria, MN ???
1869 March 8 Berthia born.
1870 August 27 Sophia (my maternal grandmother) born.
