"There was a fire at the church and all of the records were burned (according to the priest that I talked to there). All of the headstones were removed and one stone was placed for all of the people buried at that time. The area is on the northeast corner of the present cemetery. I guess they did this because they had no records left as to who was where."

"I heard a rumor from someone that before St. Lawrence church had a cemetery behind there was a small cemetery informally part of St. Lawrence church located on the road towards Palmer township in the direction one would go to find the homesteads of Thomas and Joanne Kampa and of Franz and Maria Kampa who had homesteads almost across the street from each other. The old cemetery was still in Benton county it is believed but the homesteads were across the Sherburne county line. Now, I don't remember who told me this story and it has yet to be verified. But if true, an interesting tidbit."
