At the time of the June 21, 1900 U.S. federal census, Mary was 12 years old and living with her parents, sister Lucia and Henry Trice, a 13-year-old schoolboy from New York, on a farm in St. George Township, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer. Her mother was the mother of five children, two of whom were still living.
 
At the time of the June 27, 1905 Minnesota state census, Mary was 17 years old and living with her parents and sister on the family farm in St. George, Benton, Minnesota.
 
At the time of the Apr. 18, 1910 U.S. federal census, Mary was 22 years old living with her parents, sister Lucy, and Henry Trice, their adopted brother born in New York, who was working as a laborer on the family farm in St. George, Benton, Minnesota. Her father was working as a farmer in general farming.
 
Mary married Henry John Emmerich in September 1912 in Foley, Benton, Minnesota when she was 25 and Henry was 23 years old.
 
At the time of the Jan. 9, 1920 U.S. federal census, Mary was 32 years old and living with her husband Henry, their child Donald, and her adopted brother, Henry Trice, in St. Cloud, Stearns, Minnesota. Her husband was working as the superintendent of a granite quarry and her adopted brother worked there as a laborer as well.
 
Mary died on New Year's Day 1972 in Princeton, Green Lake, Wisconsin. She was 84 years old.
