On September 12, 1918, Frank was 33 years old, a farmer, and living with his wife Dora E. and their children on R.F.D. 2, Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota. Frank was tall with a slender build, and had blue eyes and dark brown hair [Source: World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918, Sherburne County, Minnesota; Roll: 1682641; Draft Board: 0].

In the April 14, 1930 census, Frank was 45 years old and living with his wife Dora and their eight children on their own farm in Clear Lake township. The family did not own a radio. Frank said that he was married when he was 27 and Dora was 21 years old. He stated that he was born in Minnesota as was his mother, and his father was born in Ohio.
"I never was much at telling stories, but I do recall going out to meet the Bishop. . . . We used to dress up the best horses and ride in to meet the BIshop half way when he came from St. Cloud for Confirmation."

Before that, Frank started milking those Red Polleds when he was so small his mother had to hold him up -- and he continued milking until last year [1975]. "Times were tough, always something to do."

He recalled that in the days before the church was built in Clear Lake, his parents would drive the horse and buggy down to Gohmans' on the river, hitch there, row across the Mississippi, and walk to St. Augusta for Mass.

Frank always had something to do in the parish. The memory of the "red dress" he wore as an altar boy brought a smile. Then he graduated to pumping the organ and singing in the choir. He always liked that. When the new church was built in 1910 he helped in its construction along with the other men in the parish. He told about driving the horse and buggy to Mass and hitching up to the posts on the street. Or when the Methodists weren't having services, the Catholics sometimes used their shed, especially in bad weather. That wasn't always well taken by their Protestant neighbors.

Frank's last residence was Clear Lake, Sherburne, Minnesota 55319. He died Dec. 5, 1979 in Stearns County, Minnesota. He was 94 years old.
