At the time of the Apr. 29, 1910 U.S. Census, Francis "Frank" was 48 years old and living with his wife Olivine, 45, married at 27, mother of 11 children, 7 living, French Canadian; Francis (some relation - unreadable), 25, French Canadian, farm laborer; Bernadetta, daughter, 22, French Canadian; Alec, son, 20, French Canadian;, Joseph, son, 13, born in Rhode Island; Louis, 7, son, Connecticut; Leon, son, 2, Connecticut; and Henry, son, 2, Connecticut [Source: 1910 U.S. Census, Federal Census - Somers Township, Tolland, Connecticut, ED 29, Page 11B, Dwelling 223, Family 252. FHL US/Can Film #1374156]. In 1922 when he was 60 years old Francis X. Bordua was living on Hall Hill Road South in Enfield, Connecticut with his sons Francis X. Jr. and Alexander. They were farmers. Granddaughter Dorothy Bordua DeVeau remembers her grandfather as being "a jolly little man who reminded me of Santa Claus, short with a round face." He grew a variety of apples on his farm in Somers and every time the family visited he always sent them home with many apples. |
