Notes: Anders came to the United States when he was 19 in 1882; his father had died in Denmark two years earlier. He
  found ready employment in Geneva, Minnesota. Later he was responsible for bringing his siblings and mother to this country.
 
At the time of the June 19, 1900 U.S. Federal census, Andrew S. was 36 years old and living with his wife 29-year-old Lena and her parents, Nels and Margaret Christenson (ages 67 and 71, respectively), in Bath, Freeborn, Minnesota. He was working as a farm laborer on his father-in-law's farm. He was a naturalized citizen who immigrated to the United States in 1883 when he was 17 years old.
 
At the time of the Apr. 21, 1910 U.S. Federal Census, Andrew S. was 46 years old and living with his 39-year-old wife Lena and their three children in Dist. 49 of Geneva Township, Freeborn, Minnesota. He was working as a farmer. He and Lena had been married for 10 years.
 
At the time of the March 1920 U.S. Federal Census, Andrew was 56 years old and living with wife Lena (age 49), children Doris (age 15) and Lawrence (age 13), and mother Maren (age 81) in Geneva, Freeborn, Minnesota. He immigrated to the United States in 1882, and Lena in 1872. Both of them were born in Denmark [Source: E.D. 49, Sheet 7B, Dwelling 60, Family 60, Lines 61-65, FHL US/Can Film #1820830].
 
Sometime later in 1920 Andrew moved his family to Minneapolis so that his children could go to the University.
 
At the time of the April 2, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Andrew was 66 years old and living with his wife Lena (age 59), daughter Doris M. (age 25, working as a stenographer) and son Lawrence B. (age 23, attending the University) in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. He owned his own home worth $5,000 and the family had a radio. Both he and his wife were naturalized citizens and he had no occupation at the time [Source: E.D. 27-19, Sheet 4, Dwelling 14, Family 17, Lines 16-19, FHL US/Can Film #2340824].
