born of this union, two sons and two daughters: Anders, Jens, Marie,
and Ane.
In May, 1880 Soren died of cancer of the arm. He was 52 years old. Dorothy Beese Tuttle (née Nelson) says of her grandfather: ". . . died of cancer of arm. Arm was hurt in barn door and had several operations on arm ending at shoulder. Was taken to a ______ (Danish word for sickhouse) and never returned home. It is understood that his body was kept for 'medical studies.'" [From a letter dated January 26, 1983] |
