On Apr. 26, 1910, Wilton was 5 years old and living with his parents and elder brother Walter in Grand Forks Ward 7, Grand Forks, North Dakota. His father's job involved travelling and real estate. At the time of the January 10, 1920 census, Wilton was 15 years old and living with his parents and brother Walter in the family home at 4233 Sheridan Avenue in Minneapolis, MN. Also living with the family were Florance Teunis, a 29-year-old divorcée who worked as their housekeeper, and her 9-year-old son Arthur. Wilton was attending West High School at the time. At the time of the April 12, 1930 U.S. Federal Census, Wilton J. was 24 years old and living with his wife Dagny O. (age 25) and daughter Marilyn D. (age 2-1/2) at 1912 Clinton Ave., Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota in an apartment rented for $47.50 a month. He was working as a theatre manager. He stated that he was married when he was 21 and Dagny was 22 years old. He was born in Minnesota, his father was born in Denmark and his mother was born in English-speaking Canada. [Source: Roll 1091, E.D. 27-101, p. 15A.] Wilton was a theatre manager for four years up until September 1930. In 1930 he was working as a manager for the Nokomis Theatre located at 3749 Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis. He had been in failing health for a year or two, and his condition worsened until he was taken to Minneapolis General Hospital on November 8, 1932 where he was diagnosed with nephritis and anemia. While in the hospital he contracted bronchopneumonia on November 26. He passed away on Thursday, December 1, 1932 at the age of 27 years. Daughter Marilyn was 5 and son Bill Jr. was 2 years old when their father died. |
